DESSA WITH SPECIAL GUEST MONAKR // 23 FEBRUARY // 9 PM

A rapper, a singer, and an essayist with the Doomtree collective–the ascendant Minneapolis hip-hop crew, DESSA has landed on the Billboard Top 200 list as a solo artist (Parts of Speech) and as a Doomtree member (All Hands), and has made a career out of bucking traditional genre designations–rapping at Lollapalooza, arranging for full choir, and co-writing classical works for an orchestra. As a writer, she’s contributed to MPR, the Star Tribune, literary journals around the country, and has published two short collections of her own.

With special guest Monakr.  On the SOUND stage in Duluth!

RED MOLLY // 27 APRIL //  8 PM

Americana powerhouse vocal trio Red Molly is known for their gorgeous harmonies, crisp musicianship, infectious songwriting, and warm, engaging stage presence. Laurie MacAllister (bass), Abbie Gardner (Dobro), and Molly Venter (guitar) weave together the threads of American music  from folk roots to bluegrass, from heartbreaking ballads to barn-burning honky tonk  as effortlessly as they blend their caramel voices into their signature soaring, crystalline three-part harmonies.

Organic musicianship, a respect for the traditions of American music, and an obvious love of crafting music together lend a joyous atmosphere to their legendary live performances, and a natural balance to their studio recordings.

Gracing stages from Denver to Denmark, from Australia to Austin, Red Molly is renowned for their live shows. Four-time featured artist at MerleFest, breakout stars at RockyGrass, and the darlings of the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, the "Mollies" bring audiences to their feet, whether it's on a grand festival stage or in an intimate concert hall.

Red Molly will take the stage at SOUND April 27 for an amazing night of Americana right here in the HArT District! Don't miss it!

DEDRIC CLARK & TONY PETERSEN // 17 FEBRUARY // 9 PM

Dedric Clark and Tony Petersen are founding members of the nationally touring, up and coming band The Social Animals. As the lead vocalist and lead guitarist of the band, these two cut their teeth in the gritty underworld of basement house parties while based in Duluth, MN. However, in the last two years, they have left behind the basement in exchange for sharing the stage with The Shins, Blues Traveler, as well as the Firefly Music Festival and a full U.S. tour with The All-American Rejects and Dashboard Confessional. Off the stage, they have worked with many influential creators, including Paul Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies), Steve Berlin (Deer Tick, Los Lobos), and Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional).

When Dedric and Tony are not on tour with The Social Animals, (which is rare), they play stripped down acoustic duo shows to keep themselves fresh and to try out new material. Come hear it them on the SOUND stage!

ANDERS OSBORNE: A Special Acoustic Performance // 24 FEBRUARY // 9 PM

Between the potency of his richly detailed songwriting, his intensely emotional, soulful vocals and his piercing, expert guitar work, New Orleans Anders Osborne is a true musical treasure. He is among the most original and visionary musicians writing and performing today. Guitar Player calls him the poet laureate of Louisianas fertile roots music scene. New Orleans' Gambit Weekly has honored Osborne as the Entertainer Of The Year. OffBeat named him the Crescent Citys Best Guitarist for the third year in a row, and the Best Songwriter for the second straight year.

Osborne has earned hordes of new fans. He has toured virtually non-stop, either with his own band, as a solo artist, or as a guest with his countless musical admirers, including Toots and The Maytals, Stanton Moore, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Keb Mo, The Grateful Deads Phil Lesh, Jackie Greene and Karl Densons Tiny Universe. DAVID LINDLEY // 28 APRIL // 8 PM

Multi-instrumentalist David Lindley performs music that redefines the word "eclectic."  Lindley, well known for his many years as the featured accompanist with Jackson Browne, and leader of his own band El Rayo-X, has long championed the concept of world music.

The David Lindley electro-acoustic performance effortlessly combines American folk, blues, and bluegrass traditions with elements from African, Arabic, Asian, Celtic, Malagasy, and Turkish musical sources. Lindley incorporates an incredible array of stringed instruments: Kona and Weissenborn Hawaiian lap steel guitar, Turkish saz and chumbus, Middle Eastern oud, and Irish bouzouki.

In addition to Jackson Browne, Lindley has worked with Warren Zevon, Linda Ronstadt, Curtis Mayfield, James Taylor, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Terry Reid, Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Toto, Rod Stewart and Joe Walsh. Artist Ben Harper has credited Lindley's distinctive slide guitar style as a major influence on his own playing.

See this incredible performer exclusively downtown in the Zenith City on the SOUND stage April 29!
